ST Engineering chief executive Tan Pheng Hock on medical leave after mild stroke
Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) said on Monday that its president and chief executive officer, Tan Pheng Hock, is on medical leave of absence after suffering a mild stroke.
Mr Tan, who has led the integrated engineering group since February 2002, was admitted to the hospital for observation. He began his career with the group as an engineer in Singapore Technologies Marine (ST Marine) in 1981 and over the decades, he advanced from one senior position to another.
The group, which has interest in the aerospace, electronics, land systems and marine sectors, added that the duration of his medical leave could be about four weeks pending doctors' review of his condition and recommendations.
"We understand he is making good progress in his recovery,'' it said.
In the interim, his executive duties and responsibilities are being covered by Lee Fook Sun, Deputy CEO who will oversee the business functions, and Vincent Chong, Deputy CEO (Corporate Development) who will continue to oversee corporate functions. Both Deputy CEOs are supported by a team of senior and experienced management staff within the group.
