ST Engineering-led consortium to build Abu Dhabi’s integrated transport management platform

A CONSORTIUM led by ST Engineering Urban Solutions has been awarded a contract by Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) to design, build and maintain the emirate’s first multimodal, intelligent transport-management platform.
From now until 2027, ST Engineering’s urban solutions unit will design and build the Intelligent Transportation Central Platform (ITCP), and be responsible for system integration and overall project management.
Its consortium partner, Injazat Data Systems, will provide the IT, security infrastructure and system interfaces.
On Thursday (Oct 19), ST Engineering said the ITCP will integrate various subsystems and data sources into a centralised platform that will pave the way for Abu Dhabi’s ITC to implement multimodal transport strategies through automated-response plans. Using artificial intelligence (AI), it will enable real-time road-traffic monitoring and incident detection, automated dissemination of traffic information, and predict traffic congestion, resulting in faster response times and improved traffic flow.
ST Engineering said the ITCP will begin with road-transport management, and connect to other transport modes, such as rail networks, over time.
The group also highlighted the platform as central to Abu Dhabi’s vision to improve its public transport system, control traffic growth and reduce road congestion.
“The ITCP is poised to improve road travel in Abu Dhabi, enable citywide transport network visibility and management for the transport authorities, as well as efficient and seamless commuter travel,” said Chew Men Leong, president of urban solutions at ST Engineering.
“Securing this project reflects the industry’s confidence in our advanced transportation network management capabilities.”
Shares of ST Engineering closed S$0.09 or 2.3 per cent lower at S$3.79 on Thursday, after the news.
