ST Telemedia portfolio unit in US$34b merger with major US telco
Level 3-CenturyLink union will create the second-largest communications provider in America

A COMPANY within Singapore Technologies (ST) Telemedia's portfolio, Level 3 Communications, is merging with CenturyLink - one of the largest phone companies in the US - in a stock-and-cash deal worth US$34 billion including debt.
The merger between Level 3 Communications, itself one of the largest Internet service providers in the US, and CenturyLink will make the combined company the second-largest communications provider in the US serving global business customers, said CenturyLink in a statement.
