TALKS to keep Discovery channels in StarHub's pay-television stable have fallen through, the mainboard-listed telco has confirmed. Still, stock watchers were less worried about the impact of the cable content departure on StarHub's bottom line, citing instead an ongoing customer migration towards over-the-top (OTT) media.
StarHub will axe the suite of TV channels from Discovery Networks, it said on Monday, after unsuccessful negotiations between the companies. When asked by The Business Times, StarHub said it could share neither the number of affected subscribers nor the projected financial effects of the bill rebates that it is dangling, owing to "commercial sensitivities".
