STI adds to gains; more than 70 acquisitions/disposals filed

FOR the five trading sessions from June 28 to July 4, the Straits Times Index (STI) gained 1.3 per cent, in line with the Nikkei 225 Index, Hang Seng Index and S&P/ASX 200 Index, which averaged a 1.5 per cent gain. The recent gains have brought the STI's 2019 total return through to July 4 to 12.2 per cent.
Share buybacks
There were nine primary-listed stocks conducting share buybacks over the five sessions ending July 4, with a total consideration of S$10.7 million, less than the preceding five sessions' S$13.2 million. Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation, Olam International and Global investments led the buyback tally, while Straco Corporation commenced a new buyback mandate.
