STI ends up after vacillating
Singapore Reits in focus amid investors' hunt for yield, on hopes that the US Fed cries wolf
THE Straits Times Index (STI) closed higher on Tuesday after gentle swings between gain and loss in the afternoon.
Boosted by the Singapore banks and telcos, the STI finished up 9.24 points at 2,850.43. This was amid low volume of 1.3 billion units worth S$735 million, with losers exceeding gainers in the Singapore market at 184 to 170.
Shares of DBS gained 13 Singapore cents, or 0.87 per cent, to finish at S$15. UOB rose nine Singapore cents, or 0.51 per cent, to end at S$17.69, while OCBC was up two Singapore cents, or 0.24 per cent, at S$8.48.
