Strong winds cause shipping containers at Keppel Terminal to fall into water
SOME 15 empty containers fell from the wharf at Keppel Terminal into the water on Thursday (Dec 1).
There were no reported injuries and no immediate impact to port operations, said the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Friday.
The containers fell due to strong winds during a squall.
MPA said that it has deployed two patrol craft to monitor and cordon off the affected areas, so as to facilitate recovery work by PSA Corporation.
MPA’s Port Operations Control Centre has also restricted all vessel movements in the vicinity of Keppel Terminal until all the containers are recovered.
