SWISS firm Nestle, one of the world's largest food companies, was dealt a major blow in its bid to protect the two and four-finger Kit Kat bar shapes here by the Singapore High Court following a ruling made on Friday in favour of Singapore-listed Petra Foods, which Nestle had claimed had infringed on its intellectual property rights.

Referring to Nestle's claims of trademark and copyright infringements as having failed in their entirety, Justice Chan Seng Onn instead ruled in favour of Petra Foods' counterclaim to invalidate the Swiss firm's trade mark registrations for the shapes.
