MyRepublic fibre broadband users face second outage in two months
The first outage happened on Jul 21 after maintenance was conducted as part of network upgrading works
MYREPUBLIC fibre broadband customers appeared to suffer from an outage on Tuesday (Sep 10) night.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector, there were more than 10,000 reports relating to Internet problems faced by MyRepublic customers as at 11 pm.
On the company’s Facebook page, customers across locations such as Bukit Batok, Woodlands and Marine Parade commented that they faced issues accessing the Internet.
In response to The Business Times’ queries, a MyRepublic spokesperson said that the company’s broadband service experienced downtime of about nine minutes, and this has since been fully resolved.
“Our team identified the issue promptly and worked diligently to restore services as quickly as possible,” the spokesperson said.
However, as at 4.57 pm on Wednesday, there were still customers who claimed on the company’s Facebook page that they were unable to access the Internet.
While MyRepublic has not published any posts on the outage, it replied individually to certain customers still facing issues.
This is the second time in two months that MyRepublic’s fibre broadband network has faced an outage.
On Jul 21, the company’s customers also faced a network outage after maintenance was conducted as part of network upgrading works. MyRepublic consumer vice-president Terry Williams said that the outage was caused by an upstream equipment provider.
