SINGAPORE’S Temasek Holdings has appointed two new directors to its board – Tan Chong Meng, who assumed the role on Apr 1, 2024, and Geoffrey Wong, whose appointment takes effect on May 10.

In a statement on Wednesday (Apr 3), the state investment firm said that the two will join current members of the board to provide overall strategic guidance to the management.

Tan has had a 40-year executive career in the private and public sector, including 12 years as the group chief executive officer at PSA International. He is now chairman of JTC Corporation, and deputy chairman of the board of the National University Health System.

Wong has had a long career in investment management and was trained in computer science and electrical engineering, said Temasek. He was UBS Global Asset Management’s head of emerging markets and Asia-Pacific equities from 2000 to May 2023.

Before joining UBS in 1997, he co-founded an investment management firm, Koeneman Capital Management, which was subsequently acquired by DBS Asset Management.

Temasek chairman Lim Boon Heng noted that both Tan and Wong are “recognised leaders in their fields and professions”. He added: “They will bring a good mix of operating and investment capabilities to complement the current board, and help Temasek in achieving its portfolio and institutional priorities.”
