Thai stocks enjoying boost on links to medicinal drugs

But the hype is beginning to lose its buzz among some local securities companies

    THAILAND - the first country in South-east Asia to partially legalise cannabis in 2019 - has since January this year granted licences to companies, individuals and government bodies seeking to grow or use the plant for medical treatments, pharmaceuticals or consumer products.

    As of mid-April, Thailand's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) - the agency which is responsible for registering all legal cannabis usages - had already handed out 1,649 licences for cannabis growing, possession, research, extraction and production.
