WHO'D have thought that an offer independently assessed by experts as "fair and reasonable" will be honeyed two months down the road by the offeror?

As it turns out, "fair and reasonable" are not always enough to coax shareholders to jump at an offer, a high-profile lesson well learnt by Singapore Airlines (SIA) which on Monday sweetened its proposition for a general offer of Tiger shares, a firm it majority owns.
