Tigerair partners 3 Asian airlines to grow network

Airline to boost growth in key Asian markets despite poor SE-A showing

TIGERAIR is planning to accelerate business growth in other key Asian markets such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and India, even as its Singapore and South-east Asian operations continue in the red on low margins and falling passenger yields.

Better still, the airline has found a way to do so without over-stretching its resources. Yesterday, it announced strategic alliances with three airlines - Taiwan's China Airlines, India's low-cost airline SpiceJet, and Singapore Airlines' Scoot - to expand its network and commercial cooperation.

Group CEO of Tigerair Koay Peng Yen said: "The partnerships unveiled today will help us to expand our network, attain greater cost-savings, and build a stronger brand presence in the region . . . without taxing our balance sheet."
