Time to switch some funds to euro bonds, says HSBC banker

PRIVATE bank clients smarting from the losses in their US bond holdings might want to consider shifting some of their funds to euro fixed income, said Brian Dunnett, senior product specialist at HSBC Global Asset Management.

Asian investors are estimated to have about 20-50 per cent of their portfolio allocated to fixed income, with as much as 60 per cent of that in US bonds. Fixed income makes up a major portion of Asian portfolios, said Mr Dunnett.
