THE tingkat (tiffin carrier) service, invented once upon a time for working mothers unable to rush home in time to cook for their families, may be seeing a revival as households are forced to dine at home during Singapore's partial lockdown.
Wee Min Er, assistant vice-president of business development at FoodLine, an online platform for food caterers, said the company started getting more customer enquiries about tingkat services after the nationwide shutdown began in April, and interest has grown so much that staff in other departments have been roped in to help out in customer service.
