OVER two-thirds more new cars were put on the road in the first half of this year than in the same period last year, thanks to steadily expanding certificate of entitlement (COE) quotas.
From January to June 2016, 43,423 passenger cars were registered, up 68 per cent from the 25,797 in the corresponding period in 2015, said the Land Transport Authority. The numbers include both official and parallel imports, with the latter being cars not purchased from authorised distributors.
