A new business model for shipping - just going round in circles or a straight path to sustainability?
SHIPPING'S energy transition provides an opportunity to adopt new circular business models for asset management and radically change ownership structures for the benefit of the entire industry. Or, at least, that is a view just published on the Global Maritime Forum's (GMF) website.
The GMF describes itself an "international not-for-profit organisation committed to shaping the future of global seaborne trade to increase sustainable long-term economic development and human well-being".
Now it is certainly worth taking note of what the GMF says. It is backed by some of the very top names in global shipping. They notably include the group chief executive officer of Singapore's PSA International, Tan Chong Meng.
