THE blizzard warning was cancelled quickly for New York. The so-called March Madness storm did not quite live up to its name. But for air travellers, in particular, the storm hype resulted in woes, rebookings and a bit of creative thinking.
Many airlines started grounding flights well before the weather system moved through the North-east, keeping planes away from a region that was expected to be paralysed. In total, more than 6,000 flights were cancelled across the United States on Tuesday, including all American Airlines flights to New York City's three main airports.
