Airports urged to help budget carriers cut costs

AIRPORTS in the region can do more to help low-cost carriers (LCCs) cope with costs in a challenging environment, said airline heads at a panel discussion.
"The LCCs bring growth to the markets. The cost permutation in Asia - with inflation, with capex costs going up - is impacting airlines," stressed Jetstar Asia chief executive Barathan Pasupathi at the 2014 CAPA Asia Aviation Summit & LCC Congress on Monday. "Our message as an industry (is) in order for us to continue playing a part in a sustained way, taxes, costs, charges at airports have to go down."
