[NEW YORK] American Airlines Group is poised to buy US$2.6 billion of jet engines from a General Electric Co venture that competes with United Technologies Corp's Pratt & Whitney, two people said.
The 200 Leap-1A engines would outfit 100 Airbus Group A320neos that American agreed to buy in 2011, said the people.
The purchase is set to be announced next week at the Farnborough International Airshow in England, they said.
