Asia-Pac airfreight volumes up 4.9% in November

[SINGAPORE] Asia-Pacific carriers reported a 4.9 per cent rise year on year in freight volumes in November last year, after a fairly lacklustre performance in the months before.
The region, which accounts for some 40 per cent of the global market, saw air-cargo volumes contract by one per cent for the first 11 months of 2013, according to data from the International Air Transport Association (Iata). November's figure is a further improvement from the 4.4 per cent growth in October.
"The expansion was fuelled by a rebound in Asian trade volumes and the improving Chinese economy," Iata said. "Stronger demand for Asian manufactured consumer goods in North America and Europe has also supported the rise in Asian trade and airfreight volumes."
