Exercises like the recent Blue Dolphin are essential to ensure better survivability if disaster strikes a large passenger ship
ABOUT two weeks ago, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and other agencies rehearsed how to respond to a major incident involving a large passenger ship.
MPA exercise Blue Dolphin 2014 simulated the evacuation of some 700 passengers and crew members from a passenger vessel. The exercise was carried out to test the readiness of various agencies to respond to passenger vessel incidents in Singapore waters.
This was an impressive undertaking with more than 1,000 staff from 21 agencies and companies participating.
