Big four US airlines conspiring on prices, fliers say in lawsuits

THE four biggest US airlines have been sued by travellers claiming that the carriers are conspiring to keep ticket prices high in the face of falling fuel prices. The consumer cases have come as the US Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed it is investigating possible collusion.
Delta Air Lines Inc, United Continental Holdings Inc, American Airlines Group Inc and Southwest Airlines Co were sued on July 2 in Chicago federal court. All four also acknowledged the receipt of Justice Department requests for information on passenger capacity.
