THE pressure is now on to reduce shipping's CO2 footprint, but achieving this will not be easy.

Last week, Esben Poulsson, chairman of International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), set out what the industry would like the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to do to cut CO2 from ships.

Campaign group Carbon War Room (CWR) on Monday said in a statement that lenders to the shipping industry could lose a lot of money if new buildings are not easily convertible to new technologies as carbon pricing is introduced for shipping.
