CMS boost for container depot transport operators

[SINGAPORE] The container logistics and transport industry in Singapore received a boost on Tuesday with the launch of a new system that will help transport operators in container depots plan their fleet deployment more effectively.

The Container Management System (CMS) - a Web-based application that provides visibility and information on container depot activity to transport operators - is expected to reduce the time spent in queuing at the container depot by 30 per cent, and lead to a 20 per cent increase in deliveries per day.

This is because the CMS allows access to real-time data and status updates on the operating capacity of container depots and its location that will enable transport operators to plan their fleet deployment to minimise queues and jams.
