Covid-19 speeds up drive to adopt autonomous technology
Virtual event brings together port authorities and organisations to address challenges and set standards for trials and operation of autonomous surface ships in ports
EARLIER this month, there was a virtual, online meeting of representatives of flag, coastal and port authorities from eight countries as well as from several international organisations.
According to a press release, they had come together to "encourage development of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS)".
Officials from flag, coastal and port authorities from China, Denmark, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Korea and Singapore held the virtual event on Aug 4 to launch the MASSPorts initiative.
