DHL offers shipments at -150º C temperature
[SINGAPORE] DHL Global Forwarding has beefed up its cold chain logistics offerings with the transport of shipments at "frozen" temperatures. The latest offering is aimed at customers in the life sciences and healthcare industry.
The service is maintained by DHL's temperature management services provider LifeConEx and Cryoport, which provides global frozen shipping services. LifeConEx CEO David Bang said: "It is specifically designed for customers who require that cryogenic temperature be reliably maintained during storage and transportation of their materials. It also relieves them from more precarious shipping methods such as dry ice or use of hazardous liquid nitrogen."
A liquid nitrogen dry vapour shipper, which is classified as non-hazardous, is used to provide 10 days of holding time at -150º Celsius. This means greater reliability, which is important for temperature-sensitive biomaterials.
