Discussing the big issues online

USUALLY at this time of the year, I underline in my diary the date of the upcoming International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) Flagship Conference. This gathering has been a feature of the shipping scene for many years. For a good while, now it has been held in the convivial surroundings of the British Library, London.

In 2019, I attended what I believe to have been the best one yet. More than 30 speakers tackled the theme "Setting Course for 2050: Powering World Trade".

That conference examined in detail the huge challenge facing global shipping if it is to meet carbon reduction targets - and it was made very clear there is no choice.
