Dubai airport handles record 8m passengers in January

[DUBAI] Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest for international travel, handled a monthly record number of passengers in January, rising 9.7 per cent from a year earlier to 8.04 million, the airport's operator said on Wednesday.
The number of flights at the airport increased 2.1 per cent to 36,592, while the average number of passengers per flight increased to 230 from 215 a year earlier.
Dubai airport handled 208,271 tonnes of cargo in January, an increase of 3.4 per cent from a year earlier.
