    PROBABLY the best thing that can be said about 2021 is that it wasn't as bad as 2020.

    Very broadly speaking shipping has recovered quite well from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. As is usually the case with disruptive global crises, some sectors of shipping have actually thrived.

    The shambles in the supply chain, primarily caused by Covid-19 lockdowns, has had a silver lining for the big container carriers as freight rates rocketed.
