Fiji Airways, Jetstar forge interline partnership leveraging Singapore hub

FIJI Airways and Jetstar are joining hands in an interline partnership that will connect passengers from 21 destinations in Asia to Fiji and onwards in the South Pacific, via Singapore.

The new commercial agreement between the Fijian flag carrier and the Jetstar Group of branded airlines will include Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Pacific. Fiji Airways started twice-weekly direct flights to Singapore on April 5 this year.

Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways' chief executive, said: "We're excited to expand our reach in Asia through this partnership with Jetstar to connect more destinations in the region to our extensive South Pacific network. This interline agreement will offer a seamless travel experience from 21 cities in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, The Philippines, Cambodia and Myanmar, to Fiji, via Singapore. It also opens new travel possibilities for the growing number of South Pacific travellers."

While the agreement covers all 73 destinations served by the Jetstar Group, including Jetstar Airways in Australia, the immediate take-up will be for Jetstar destinations from Singapore.

Jetstar has 46 interline partners including Qantas, Air France-KLM, British Airways, United and China Eastern; it also has existing codeshare agreements with Qantas, Japan Airlines, American Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Finnair, LATAM Airlines Group and Emirates.
