GRAB is deepening its push into the local taxi business.
The Singapore-based ride-hailing app on Wednesday announced an exclusive partnership with Prime Taxi, through which all 1,000 Prime Taxi drivers will only use Grab as their third-party online platform to handle on-demand passenger bookings.
This is Grab's third such partnership announced in two months. The first two were with Trans-Cab (with 7,000 drivers) and Premier Taxis (3,000 drivers).
Melvin Vu, head of GrabTaxi Singapore, said: "Taxi drivers play a crucial role in meeting transportation needs in Singapore, and we remain committed to empowering them to better serve passengers."
Mr Vu noted that Grab's latest partnership with Prime Taxis makes it the "most diversified transportation platform" in Singapore. He added that Grab's ultimate goal is to make the taxi industry even more competitive, better fulfil commuters' on-demand point-to-point travel needs, and drive towards Singapore's car-light vision.
