GrabTaxi now Grab; rebranding reflects all services
GRABTAXI is now known as Grab, in a rebranding that the South-east Asian ride-booking platform says will reflect all of its services beyond just taxis, which include private cars (GrabCar), motorcycle taxis (GrabBike), social carpooling (GrabHitch) and last mile delivery (GrabExpress).
Since mid-2015, Grab has experienced a 35 per cent average monthly growth in GrabCar rides and a 75 per cent average monthly growth in GrabBike rides across the region, the company revealed on Thursday.
It has also amassed over 200,000 drivers and more than 11 million mobile downloads across 28 cities in the region, since its founding in 2012.
Anthony Tan, group chief executive and co-founder of Grab, said: "Grab aims to make transportation accessible to everyone in South-east Asia. We have set the benchmark in the industry, with the most number of transport services that cater to all price points, all available in one app. We have something for everyone."
Grab on Thursday also announced app enhancements, among them a faster two-click booking experience (with pick-up and drop-off points already pre-filled based on the customer's favourite places) and live driver tracking (to enable better estimation of pick-up times).
To boot, Grab's in-app credit card payment system GrabPay now supports multiple credit cards, allowing customers to easily toggle between cards depending on their trip type (ie, for business or leisure).
Grab's new app is available for update on Thursday.
