High crimes on the high seas
While reports of piracy and armed robbery on ships are down, the numbers are still too high for complacency
IF you look at the statistics it is possible to say that piracy and armed robbery against ships is becoming less of a problem.
The International Chamber of Commerce International Maritime Bureau's (IMB) report for the third quarter of 2019 records fewer such incidents than the first nine months of 2018.
Up to the end of September, incidents of Piracy and Armed Robbery Against Ships were reported to the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre (IMB PRC) in Kuala Lumpur in 2019, compared to 156 incidents for the same period in 2018.
