BUDGET carrier Jetstar Asia is suspending scheduled services until May 31 after the government extended Singapore's circuit breaker to June 1 to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jetstar Asia said in a statement on Friday: "All passengers with existing bookings for travel from May 19-31 will be offered a refund to the full value of their untravelled booking in the form of a travel credit voucher. The credit voucher can be redeemed up to the value stated on the voucher in one booking only within six months of issue, for travel on Jetstar within 12 months of the booking date."
For now, Jetstar Asia is only operating a temporary network consisting of five return services a week from Singapore to Manila, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur until September. The services are available to Singapore citizens and permanent residents who are returning home, or those with written approval for travel. Meanwhile, the outbound flights to Bangkok carry only cargo. With travel demand evaporating and countries around the world shutting their borders, Jetstar Asia previously announced that it was grounding its fleet of 18 narrow-body Airbus 320 aircraft until April 15. It later went on to say that it was extending the suspension of scheduled services until May 19.
