LOCAL budget carrier Scoot will see most of its upcoming 20 Boeing 787s powered by Trent 1000 engines made here in Singapore by Rolls-Royce. The medium/long-haul, low-cost airline is set to take delivery of its first B787 early next month, which arrives from Seattle.
At the unveiling of the engine on Tuesday, Scoot's chief executive Campbell Wilson said of the Trent 1000 engines: "Along with the 787 itself, they will change the game for Scoot, reducing our fuel bill and allowing us to continue offering great value airfares. They will allow us to open new routes and to strengthen the Singapore aviation hub."
