More collaboration needed for cleaner hulls, cleaner waters
Global alliance launched to tackle key issues of ship emissions and transfer of invasive marine species
A COUPLE of days ago I watched a television programme which explained how indigenous freshwater crayfish in English rivers were being wiped out by a much larger and more aggressive crayfish that belongs in North America.
In that particular case the invasive species had escaped from fish farms which had imported them as a lucrative product for the seafood market.
The immediate reaction was to say how could we be so stupid to let things like this happen.
