Move to greener shipping - good news and bad
A recently-launched Task Force on Decarbonizing Shipping has set off with bold goals, but could run into a sea of red tape and vested interests
AN industry-led initiative will develop tangible pathways for shipping's decarbonisation, said a statement issued last week on the launch of the Task Force on Decarbonizing Shipping.
So, is this an initiative involving the main representative bodies of the global shipping industry: the International Chamber of Shipping and BIMCO (Baltic and International Maritime Council)? And is it supported by important sectoral bodies such as Intertanko, Intercargo or the International Bunker Industry Association.
The statement also said Global Maritime Forum, Carbon War Room, the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition and University College London were jointly launching the Task Force on Decarbonizing Shipping.
