Growing demand for talent as national rail network expands

RAIL engineers here can now be accredited as chartered engineers, after railway and transportation engineering was introduced as the latest discipline under the Chartered Engineer (CEng) programme by the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) on Friday.
To launch the railway CEng qualification, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by IES, the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), SBS Transit, and SMRT Corporation. The move comes amid a growing demand for engineering talent, particularly railway professionals, as Singapore's rail network is set to double to about 360km by 2030.
