New Lexus RX expected to stay in global No 1 spot
Car's chief engineer is confident of remaining in the top position because of its loyal fan base

TO say that the Lexus RX crossover is an important model for the Japanese luxury brand is an understatement. The mid-sized SUV consistently accounts for one-third of global Lexus sales. It is also the No 1 model in its luxury crossover segment.
So when Lexus chief engineer Takayuki Katsuda was tasked with developing the new fourth-generation RX, he felt a sense of trepidation - not only because it was a critical model, but also for the fact that he was the chief engineer for the third-generation car.
