THE final certificate of entitlement (COE) bidding exercise before next month's new and bigger quota produced unexpected increases in passenger car premiums.
Category A - for cars below 1,600cc and 130 hp - rose S$1,291 to S$47,300, while Cat B - for cars above 1,600cc or 130 hp - climbed S$2,602 to S$49,602.
Cat E - the open category which currently tracks Cat B - was S$1,991 higher at S$49,501.
But the remaining two categories were lower. Cat C - for goods vehicles - was down S$1,211 to S$43,002, and Cat D - for motorcycles - slipped just S$2 to S$6,501.
From May, there will be 14.7 per cent more COEs for three months, with all COE classes enjoying a boost in numbers.
