DURING the past two weeks, the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) has dominated the media. My in-box has been deluged with COP26-related material.
The last two Strait Talk columns have thus reflected on issues connected with COP26. This week, however, I want to take a break from that and take some time to consider the outcomes of that Glasgow meeting, and return later to the thorny issues surrounding decarbonisation.
Today's issue is another pressing but largely ignored issue - that of eradicating piracy from the waters off West Africa. A recent statement from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) appears to confirm that some real progress is being made on this front.
