Rise in boxes handled, bunker sales for 3rd straight month

THE Port of Singapore has posted, for the third consecutive month this year, increases in its container throughput and ship-fuel sales.
In March, container throughput came in at 2.69 million TEUs (20-foot-equivalent units), compared to 2.52 million TEUs a year ago, preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) showed. This brought first-quarter container throughput to 7.61 million TEUs, up from 7.39 million TEUs for Q1 2016.
