Sentosa Express to get S$30m upgrade

    HITACHI Asia, a subsidiary of Japanese tech giant Hitachi, has won a S$30 million contract from the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) to upgrade the Sentosa Express light rail system connecting Sentosa island with Singapore.

    Under the contract, Hitachi will install a wireless signalling system known as CBTC (communication-based train control) and provide another train set comprising two carriages.

    The deal for the sale of Scotts Square mall, just off Orchard Road, is said to be in the early stages of being worked out, at a price of about S$320 million.
