Shipping remains a risky business

THERE has been a spate of survey findings landing on my desk recently, including another one from prolific survey instigator BDO.

The UK-based shipping adviser and accountant has published its latest annual Shipping Risk Survey. It gives an interesting, and in parts troubling, insight into what is worrying the industry.

Respondents to the BDO survey rated the extent to which enterprise and business risk management is contributing to the success of their organisation at an average 6.4 out of a possible maximum score of 10.0,compared to 5.9 in the 2018 survey. The survey was launched in 2015 with a rating of 6.9.
