SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) has confirmed that it is in talks to potentially acquire a stake in South Korea-based budget carrier Jeju Air, which would give it a foothold in the buoyant North Asian market.
In a statement to the Singapore Exchange early Tuesday morning, SIA said: "Singapore Airlines wishes to confirm that discussions have taken place on a possible equity investment in (Jeju Air). These discussions may not result in a transaction. Singapore Airlines will make further public announcements as necessary."
