DISTRIBUTORS of Japanese cars will be able to respond more quickly to the adoption of the Euro VI emission standard for petrol vehicles from Sept 1, 2017, now that the JPN 2009 standard will also be accepted as an equivalent by then.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) on Monday announced that cars sold in Singapore have to adhere to the stricter Euro VI standard in less than three years' time to further reduce nitrogen oxides and fine particulate emissions, in particular the PM2.5 from vehicular emissions. This is in line with efforts to improve the ambient air quality by regulating vehicular emissions.
