Singapore Airshow 2018: CAAS to provide aviation training in Macedonia and Rwanda

THE Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has inked agreements with its counterparts from Macedonia and Rwanda to provide aviation training in the two countries.

The agreements reaffirm Singapore's commitment to advance civil aviation internationally in support of the International Civil Aviation Organization's 'No Country Left Behind' initiative, said CAAS in a statement on Thursday.

The pacts were signed by the CAAS director-general Kevin Shum, the director-general of Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr Goran Jandreoski, and the director-general of the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority, Mr Silas Udahemuka, on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow on Wednesday.

Under the agreements, CAAS, through its training arm - the Singapore Aviation Academy - will develop and conduct relevant training programmes to support aviation development in Macedonia and Rwanda.

Said Mr Jandreoski: "Such support means a lot especially in respect of knowledge quality improvement of our personnel and new skills acquiring in the field of aviation safety, navigation, airport security as well as other fields that are very important for the civil aviation development."

Mr Udahemuka said, "Partnering with CAAS will impart aviation knowledge and skills in our nascent human resource, which is a much needed building block for Rwanda to steadily achieve the required standards for a safe and secure aviation industry."
