Singapore, Brunei sign civil aviation MOU

SINGAPORE and Brunei have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Civil Aviation Cooperation, and the two countries' transport ministries and civil aviation authorities will collaborate more closely in the future, the Ministry of Transport said on Friday morning.

The MOU was signed by Brunei's Minister for Communications, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, and Singapore's Minister for Transport, Lui Tuck Yew, on the sidelines of the 20th Asean Transport Ministers' Meeting on Thursday in Mandalay, Myanmar.

Under the MOU, Brunei and Singapore will cooperate in the areas of civil aviation safety, security and training, aircraft accident and incident investigation, air traffic management, civil aviation and environmental protection and sustainable development, and other civil aviation-related matters.

Said Mr Lui: "I am very pleased Brunei and Singapore are taking our cooperation in civil aviation to a higher level with the signing of this MOU. Through greater cooperation, our two countries will be able to jointly address common challenges and harness the opportunities in the aviation arena and build on our many common aviation interests."
