Singapore forms international advisory panel for maritime industry
SINGAPORE'S Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have set up an international advisory panel to seek global perspectives on key trends that will shape the maritime industry.
Transport Minister S Iswaran will chair the new panel, which comprises 12 global business leaders from the maritime sector and its adjacent industries such as consultancy, e-commerce, energy and commodity, finance, logistics and manufacturing, and technology.
Maersk, Boston Consulting Group, Cosco Shipping Lines, DNV, IBM, ING Bank, Kuehne+Nagel, PSA International, Procter & Gamble, Sea Limited, Vitol Asia and Wartsila will be part of the new panel.
The maritime international advisory panel will discuss how the maritime sector and related industries can collaborate to improve the global maritime industry and supply chains.
They will meet on Apr 5 and 6 during Singapore Maritime Week 2022, which runs from Apr 4 to 8, 2022.
Iswaran said in a press statement that it is critical to keep global supply chains flowing to bring supplies and goods to countries and people who need them.
"As more countries in the world open up their economy and transit to living with Covid-19, it is also important that we pay heed to the driving forces that are shaping the future of the maritime sector," he added.
MPA chief executive Quah Ley Hoon noted: "The maritime international advisory panel will provide us with important insights on how we can continue to strengthen our value proposition to the global maritime industry and supply chains."
